The DVLA currently allows a reduction Road Tax equal to one band for converted vehicles. However, it may become possible to undertake an emission test on your converted vehicle to reduce the Road Tax based on hydrocarbon levels. Other than sounding confusing this in theory means re-classification in Band A allowing for FREE ROAD TAX!

Just to be clear, we can't confirm the costs involved in the testing or even if this kind of re-classification is possible yet. However the most exciting aspect of this news is that in addition to the huge increase in tax for the most polluting vehicles, there is now a way for these vehicles to become more environmentally conscious.
